Description

Kingdom Hearts Missing-Link is a smartphone game that adds another chapter to the famous Kingdom Hearts brand.

Why not add another mobile game to the mix? Kingdom Hearts already boasts one of the most infamously complicated tales in the business, so why not add another to the mix? Kingdom Hearts Missing-Link was revealed during the series’ 20th anniversary live stream, which was broadcast on Square Enix’s YouTube channel. The game is being created for Android and iOS devices. With 3D visuals and real-time fighting, it distinguishes itself from previous mobile instalments of the franchise. Its gameplay is more in line with that of the main series on consoles, which helps it stand out from the competition.

While it is possible that Kingdom Hearts Missing-Link may wind up joining an ever-growing list of fantastic Android apps, Square Enix disclosed little nothing about the game other than a brief video before immediately revealing Kingdom Hearts 4. With that in mind, here’s all we know about Missing-Link, including information on its impending closed beta later this year:

WHAT IS THE MISSING-LINK IN KINGDOM HEARTS?

Under the long-running Kingdom Hearts series, a new instalment, Kingdom Hearts Missing-Link, is now in development for mobile devices. It is expected to have a whole new, original tale set in the realm of Scala ad Caelum, a busy metropolis that players will be able to discover on their own. At least based on the initial look at the game’s announcement trailer, it doesn’t seem to include any returning playable characters.

Kingdom Hearts Missing-Link will be a departure from previous mobile games in the series, including 3D visuals and real-time fighting as opposed to turn-based battle.

THE KINGDOM HEARTS STORY IS MISSING A LINK

Square Enix divulged nothing about the tale other than the fact that it is completely original, however the following is narrated by a voiceover in the trailer:

“The beginning was brought about by light and darkness, and it was fostered by hearts. Life was handed down from generation to generation until the country was teeming with vibrant individuals. Scala ad Caelum is a city of light and darkness, dreams and distortion, the remembered and the lost, the remembered and the forgotten. The ‘Missing Link’ in the chain. Humans congregated here to form societies that spread out and branch out like veins across the city in order to feel part of something larger. In the pitch-black sky of this planet, the stars gleamed contortedly the night you first awakened in this world.”

Exactly how it will connect to the mainstream series and whether it will take place before or after specific events in the games is still up in the air.

Intending to make sense of the mythology and history of the series might seem like a Herculean task. Even taking a deep dive into Kingdom Hearts to attempt to make sense of it all might leave you feeling befuddled and bewildered. We have yet to see precisely how much prior knowledge of the series gamers will need in order to leap into Missing-Link, but we are confident that it will be accessible for beginners as well.

GAMEPLAY IN KINGDOM HEARTS IS MISSING A LINK

The gameplay in Kingdom Hearts Missing-Link will be identical to that seen in the console titles, with 3D action and real-time fighting taking centre stage. In accordance with the reveal trailer, gamers will be able to explore the landscape by going up structures and leaping about in it. In bouts against Heartless, players may also use Keyblades, which have a variety of various attacks and abilities that can be used depending on whatever character is being used.

Missing-Link will also contain additional destinations, such as what looks to be the Kingdom of Corona from the Disney film Tangled, in addition to Scala ad Caelum. Players will be able to go “from the realm of Scala ad Caelum into the actual world,” according to the game’s developers.

KINGDOM HEARTS IS MISSING A LINK: CLOSED BETA TESTING

A closed beta for Kingdom Hearts Missing-Link is anticipated to launch for Android and iOS devices sometime in 2022. Although Square Enix did not disclose any other details, such as how to join up for the closed beta, the company did state that it will be restricted to specified locations. Despite the fact that the areas have not been revealed, it is a safe guess that at the very least Japan will be included. You can find out more information about the game by keeping an eye on the Google Play Store and its official website in the coming months.

MISSIN’ LINK IN KINGDOM HEARTS: IS IT A FREE-TO-PLAY GAME?

If Kingdom Hearts Missing-Link will be free-to-play or not is still unclear, and judging by previous mobile entries, it’s tough to say. Kingdom Hearts Union Dark Road, another mobile spinoff in the series, is available for free on the Google Play Store, although it is a very different style of game from the one that looks to be Missing-Link. Square Enix has not said if Missing-Link is intended to be a paid product or a free-to-play title.

THERE IS A MISSING LINK FOR KINGDOM HEARTS: RELEASE DATE AND PLATFORMS

Kingdom Hearts Missing-Link will be available on both Android and iOS devices, however we do not yet know what the system requirements are or which phones will be able to run it at this time. Although a closed beta will be held in 2022, this does not necessarily imply that the game will be released this calendar year. As usual, we will keep an eye out for any developments and will post them here as soon as they become available.
